Artiste de la biennale Aquarelle

Raymond Cazes

For a long time, I wanted to use my water colors to enhance certain aspects of today’s world.
I am attracted by things that have been modified and worn out by the years. I have learned to see forgotten objects differently, like scrap heaps left to rust in courtyards and garages filled with spider’s webs and tools from another age I am curious without being nostalgic, and I am motivated to represent those inspiring new colors, textures and materials.
I focused my investigations on rust and its endless forms of manifestation. I also worked on depicting the diffused light one finds in old workshops and on the sharp contrast between the abandoned rusty objects and the natural greens of the nearby vegetation.
